Abstract

The huge amount of information available online and its unstructured nature is reaching a point that some actions has to be taken in order to ease the use of queries within a web search engine. The introduction of order/organization and structure is necessary for the process of this information. One-step toward this goal is the use of ontologies for specific areas and domains. Due to the unavailability of digital structured information pertaining to a university hierarchy especially the operations peculiar to Nigeria, hence this study. The study developed an ontology with over 500 axioms for a university hierarchical system with related work associated to ontology reviewed, all the information associated to a university collected, a university ontology model designed and the implementation of the ontology done using Protégé.
